Dark Deer Ltd (“DDL”) is an IT company specialising in products for the equine market. The company has three Directors: Dr Neil Thomson, (CEO), Frederica Gilbert, (Sales and Marketing Director), and Siobhan Thomson (Operations Director)
The company combines high technical skills and business knowledge of Equestrian sports to produce high quality, reliable and affordable equipment and software to see your business a success with less fuss and effort. In our experience this level of skill is unusual in companies working in the Equine/IT market.
Neil has over 30 years’ experience developing software both in his own companies and for large UK public companies. He has designed user interfaces for the Admiralty’s nuclear submarines and managed over 120 programmers and written mission-critical software for some of the world’s largest companies. Frederica is a qualified Veterinary Nurse, Riding Instructor and has successfully run businesses for about 10 years. Siobhan is a riding instructor and has run the family owned Equestrian Centre at Dark Deer Croft in Inverness for the last 12 years.
DDL produces a number of products for the Equestrian market and its different disciplines, Showjumping, Dressage and Eventing. These include timers, displays, TV interfaces, collecting ring, judging and show administration modules. Uniquely, these products can all be integrated providing the only “joined-up” modern technology solution for this market. The core product through which everything communicates is called “Showmanager”.
Our products are well established with DDL Timers and Displays installed in more than 175 sites across the UK, Ireland, Holland and Portugal ranging from the prestigious Anglo-European Stud, to small riding clubs and Gymkhanas. They have been used for the last three years to run the multi-arena timing at the BS National Championships and have a good reputation for reliability and ease of use.
